Your financial donations help us advance our mission of equipping students to impact the world for Christ. Christian Academy in Japan is committed to careful use of the resources God provides. Your donations help keep tuition costs down and provide resources needed to advance our mission; they help us be mission-driven and not tuition-driven. If you have questions about giving to CAJ which are not answered here, simply contact our
school advancement department.
What to give to
There are different funds to donate to at CAJ.
- Annual Fund (operations): Like other private schools, CAJ's tuition covers a portion of the cost. Contributions to this fund support the annual operating budget--things like books, utilities, and salaries.
- College Scholarship Fund: Contributions to this fund provide college scholarships for graduating seniors. Donations may be designated for the following awards:
- CAJ Honor Award: Given annually to a senior who is chosen by the students and faculty in recognition of outstanding spiritual, academic, and social leadership.
- Habbestad Fine Arts Award: Given each year to one or two seniors who have demonstrated talent, dedication, and excellence in music, theater, or visual arts. Students must demonstrate depth of dedication to one particular area or a breadth of involvement in several, and each must be able to articulate a vision for using the arts in the future.
- Howard Blair Award: Given each year to one or two seniors who have demonstrated talent, dedication, and excellence in literature.
- Senior Athlete Award: Given annually to one female senior and one male senior for their excellent achievements in sports, consistent level of leadership as an athlete, and quality contributions to our athletic program during their high school years.
- Martin Essenburg Academic Achievement Award: From the earliest days of CAJ's history, Martin Essenburg had a significant impact on the school most notably in the pursuit of academic excellence. His influence as Headmaster over sixteen years of service is honored in two awards, one for the valedictorian and one for the salutatorian of each years’ graduating class. While living lives that balance numerous outside activities and interests with excellence in academics, the students who earn these awards show consistent and sustained achievement in academic pursits throughout their CAJ high school careers.
- Tuition Assistance Fund: Contributions to this fund are used to to provide tuition assistance to qualifying families.
- Designated gifts: These gifts are used for designated purposes. For example, in 2002-2003, designated gifts provided funds for our new play structure which encourages imaginative play among our elementary and middle school students.
- Gift Registry: Staff members have special requests for items which they would use to assist learning. They submit these requests to the Leadership Team for review and approval. You can designate your gift for these purchases.
