SSS was established to help Christian evangelical missionary families in Japan who homeschool their children or supplement Japanese schools with English studies at home. Over the years we have welcomed other families to SSS who desire this same kind of Christ-centered educational help. We have quite a few families from international marriages.

A desire for Christ-centered help with your homeschooling
At least one parent speaks and reads English. (All communication is in English.)
At least one of the following should apply
family speaks English in the home
child lived in an English-speaking country at age four or older
family lives in an international environment where English is spoken
child has experience attending school in English
child can answer questions in English in an interview
Live in Japan
Fees
There is a ¥30,000 membership fee to join SSS. This entrance fee covers the whole family from September through May and is not based on the number of children one has. Families who are members may sign up for additional options such as Stories Plus (¥30,000) and/or Library (¥30,000). Members may also sign up for events that have various prices depending on the event. Families may not sign up for library or Stories Plus unless they are members.
Although the SSS office is closed during summer vacation, those who sign up for the library option may check out library books in May for the summer before joining and in the following May for the summer after the school year.
Reduced fees are available for full-time missionaries and pastors.
Payment options
Payments can be made in person, using a cash envelope (genkin buto), through a postal transfer, or through a bank transfer.
PTA Membership
SSS members automatically become members of CAJ's PTA giving them permission to buy and sell at Thrift Ship.
